This is a Flamin' Groovies tribute covering both the Loney era Groovies and the Jordan era Groovies.

Safety Pins All Stars : Teenage Head (Loney-Jordan). The riff is for some reason changed a bit and they don't get the lyrics right. But it's very funny with a lot of energy.

The Nuggets : Jumpin' in the night (Jordan-Wilson). At a reunion concert with Roy Loney and Cyril Jordan in 2009, Cyril said that he had Roy Loney in mind when he wrote this song and Roy sang a great version. This version is a very good version and I can hear what Cyril meant. It's very much like the early Groovies, a bit like Sweet Roll Me On Down!

Sour Jazz : Dr Boogie (Loney-Jordan). Imagine that Iggy Pop did a version of this song in the mid 90's. That's how it sounds. The original groove is gone but it's still a very good version.

The Trash Brats : Have you seen my baby ? (Randy Newman). Well this is a cover of Groovies's cover of this song and it sounds very much the same which I think is good.

Silver Tongued Devils : Going out of theme/Roadhouse (Loney-Jordan). This one is played even faster than the Groovies version and the riff is a bit changed. After everything collapses at the end they make an odd version of "Going Out Theme". Very funny!

Los Protones : Don't put me on (Jordan-Wilson). A fine version of a very good song.

Zeal : Whiskey woman (Loney-Jordan). This is also a very good version with sparking guitar solos at the end.

Doorslammer : Shake some action (Jordan-Wilson). This one sounds very much like the original album version.

The Egomaniacs : Gonna rock tonight (Roy A. Loney). This is a version that is very close to the original version. The main difference is the 90's type of fuzz guitars as on "Full Grown Head".

Los Imposibles : Take me back (Jordan-Wilson). I like this version very much with nice harmony vocals, organ and a twangy guitar. One of the highlights of the album.

Soo Chain Brothers : Let me rock (Jordan-Wilson). This is a studio version of a demo song which originally was released by Skydog in the late 70's. This one sounds a bit rawer and has the same live in the rehearsal room feeling. A good one!

Adam West : Dog meat (Jordan-Wilson). This is also a studio version of a demo song which originally was released by Skydog in the late 70's. A fine version but I don't like the mix with the bass in just one channel.

Atom Rhumba : Evil hearted Ada (Roy A. Loney). This is very funny. I think the band is from Spain and I don't think the singer know the words. He even gets the title of the song wrong in the chorus. But it rocks!

Strutter : Yeah my baby (Jordan / Wilson / Edmunds). I don't like the original version of this song so what about this version? Well this is a Iggy Pop type of version. Very funny but it's still not a very good song.

Bummer : Love have mercy (Roy A. Loney). This singer sounds a bit like Domingo Samudio of Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. A wild version!

Big Bad Johns : Second cousin (Roy A. Loney). This is a good version of a good song and played very much in the style of the original version.

The Finkers : You tore me down (Jordan-Wilson). It's not often cover versions are better than the original version but I think this is. Very nice harmony vocals and a bit tougher than the Groovies version.

disc 2 :

Street Walkin' Cheetahs : Slow death (Loney-Jordan). I don't like second guitar being stronger in the mix than the guitar that plays the riff because I like the riff so much. Otherwise a good version.

Fastbacks : I can't hide (Jordan-Wilson). A very funny version that has a sound that makes me believe it was recorded in a cave!

Jerry Spider Gang : Yesterday's numbers (Loney-Jordan). This is almost heavy metal! Do I like it. No!

The Roamin' Numerals : High flyin' baby (Loney-Jordan). This is another one with strange sound. The microphones must have been in the room next to the studio! Otherwise a very good version.

Hell Brains : I' m drowning (Roy A. Loney). Imagine Motorhead playing this song. It's not my cup of tea.

The Hunchbacks : I'll cry alone (Jordan-Wilson). Here's another one that I think is better than the original version. A bit tougher and better produced and recorded.

The Easy Livin' : Blues for Phillys (Jordan-Wilson). Another version of a demo song which originally was released by Skydog in the late 70's. This also sounds as a demo, but it's a good version.

The Mad Daddys : Comin' after me (Loney-Jordan). Quite close to the original version.

The Trash Mavericks : The first one is free (Roy A. Loney). This is a very very good version with a nice slide guitar and a very good vocal. One of the highlights!

The Panadolls : In the U.S.A. (Jordan-Wilson). They have kept the strange over compressed drum sound but otherwise it's faster and rocks more than the original version. Very good!

The Jack Saints : American soul spiders (Loney-Jordan-Lynch-Alexander-Mihm). I don't think this is a good song, but it's interesting to hear as it wasn't recorded in the studio by Flamin' Groovies.

Tipos De Interés : First plane home (Jordan-Wilson). A country styled version which works very well.

The Quadrajets : Headin' for the Texas border (Loney-Jordan). This is one of the worst versions I've heard of this song. The melody is gone as the vocals are just spoken / screamed.

The Mc Coyson : Sweet Roll Me On Down (Loney-Jordan). A very good cover of this country classic. This is more rock'n roll.

The Rockitts : Between the lines (Jordan-Wilson). This song gets a Ramones treatment and it's like the clocks are turned backwards to 1977.

Young Fresh Fellows : Golden clouds (Roy A. Loney). This is also one of the highlights of the record. A very good version!

The Pain Killers : Brushfire (Loney-Jordan). The ballad from Supersnazz is transformed in to a rocker. Does it work? Well, yes, but I like the original version much better.

What do I think of this album then? I must say that the album is made with 100% love and respect. Of course I prefer the original versions of most of the songs, but a couple of the versions here are actually better and it's pure fun to hear these versions. I'll give it 7/10
